Security footage has emerged of an attack on Alice Springs hotel staff by two local women after an ABC film crew angered them by allegedly filming without their permission.
The CCTV video shows the documentary crew running into the Aurora Alice Springs foyer and asking the receptionists to lock the doors before taking shelter in a room.
The two visibly angry Aboriginal women then storm into the hotel foyer, carrying metal poles from a camera tripod and demanding to know what room the crew is in.
The women then turn on the hotel staff, hitting one of them over the head with a metal pole and smashing up the reception desk with planks of wood.
The hotel's general manager Ron Thynne told the

the receptionist was lucky a computer screen took some of the force from the blow.
"It prevented the completion of the full overhead downward blow from the weapon being delivered with its intended full force," he said.
"When the police arrived 35 minutes later, the receptionist and duty manager were left traumatised."
The TV crew, which included News Limited columnist Joe Hildebrand, have denied filming people without their permission for a documentary entitled 'Dumb, Drunk and Racist'.
Two women, aged 26 and 24, have arrested over the incident.
