A man accused of murdering his four-month-old daughter has been refused bail by a judge who believes there's a big risk he will flee South Australia.
The baby's 20-year-old father and 18-year-old mother were both charged last November with their daughter's murder and with failing to immediately notify the coroner of the death.
The father sought bail in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday for home detention in Port Augusta, north of Adelaide.
Magistrate Bob Harrap refused because of the seriousness of the charges and because the young man had only moved to Adelaide from regional NSW last year and had no family, ties or work in SA.
"You are a significant flight risk," the magistrate said.
The court was told the post mortem report had not been completed because results were still to come from an overseas specialist.
The mother has been appearing in Adelaide Youth Court because she was a minor when the pair was arrested.
She will reappear on March 29. The father was remanded to reappear in the Magistrate's Court on March 30.
The baby's body was found in the couple's suburban Brooklyn Park home in November, about a week after she died. The autopsy revealed major injuries.
