A 25-year-old woman has burns to 30 per cent of her body after being deliberately set alight at her unit, police say.

Police were called to the Rivervale unit in Perth's inner south at about 7am (WST) on Thursday after neighbours heard screams and rushed to the woman's aid, pushing her into her shower to douse the flames.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital with severe burns to her face and upper body.

A police spokeswoman told AAP it was believed the woman had been deliberately set alight and police were calling for any witnesses to come forward.

Detectives and forensics officers were at the scene.
