Staff at a radio network that broadcast an interview in which a teenage girl said she had been raped were forced to evacuate their building because of a security threat.

A security threat was made to 2Day FM about 1.30pm (AEST) on Thursday, forcing all staff to evacuate their World Square building for about an hour, News Limited reports.

Other tenants in the building were also forced to leave.

Police and security staff then searched the building, but no suspicious items were found.

Public outrage erupted on July 29 when in a segment on the Kyle and Jackie O 2Day FM radio show, a 14-year-old girl was strapped to a lie detector and on being questioned by her mother revealed she had been raped two years earlier.

During Thursday's security alert, 2Day FM radio station managed to stay on air during the evacuation, by running a playlist.

The future of Kyle Sandiland's radio job remains uncertain with the contentious on-air stunt leading to the Kyle and Jackie O show being taken off the air while station owners Austereo conduct a review.
