Shark throws boat keys overboard

Two teenagers on the NSW Central Coast were stranded at the weekend when a shark they had caught threw the keys of their boat overboard.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the pair were fishing on Sunday 2km off Killcare when they landed the 1.2m gummy shark.

The shark began thrashing around in the 4.2m runabout and apparently became entangled with the cord hanging from the boat keys.

The two youths, aged 17 and 18, jumped on the shark but failed to subdue it immediately.

When they finally had the fish under control, they could not find the boat keys anywhere and were stranded.

The were pair were rescued after four hours when a passing vessel saw their emergency flare.
