A motorist will have to undergo surgery after being shot in the leg during an altercation with another driver in western Sydney.
The 33-year-old was driving his Toyota Corolla on Fullagar Rd in Holroyd some time between 3pm and 5pm (AEDT) on Sunday, when he became involved in an argument with the other driver, police say.
"Both drivers stopped and before the victim could approach the other vehicle, a number of shots were fired at him," police said in a statement.
"One of the bullets lodged in his lower leg.
"The other driver fled the scene."
The 33-year-old managed to drive himself to the home of a friend, who then took him to Westmead Hospital.
The driver remains in a stable condition, and will undergo surgery to his leg, police said.
