A Queensland girl saw the wreckage of a car crash that killed her mother as she was travelling past in a school bus.
The accident occurred on Monday when Emma Gibbin, a 31-year-old mother of four, was taking her children to childcare in the tiny southern Queensland town of Isis Central, the Courier Mail reports.
The two children in the car, an 18-month-old boy and four-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries in the smash.
A Childers State Primary School bus carrying Ms Gibbin's 12-year-old daughter passed by just minutes after her four-wheel-drive crashed and rolled over.
A family friend told the Courier Mail the daughter only found out their mother had died later that day.
Children at the school are receiving counselling about the accident.
The family friend said Ms Gibbin was very "family-oriented".
"It's a very small community and everyone knows everyone which makes it that much harder," he said.
The couple's 18-month-old son Nick remains in a serious condition after suffering head and internal injuries in the crash.
The couple's four-year-old James was treated for fractures and abrasions at Bundaberg Base Hospital.
