A Queensland man has told a court how his alleged attacker slit his throat with a knife before covering herself in his blood.
Giving evidence at the Ipswich Magistrates Court, Paul Hicks said he had invited Liam Gayor and his American partner Lois Perryman to his house for lunch in September last year, the Queensland Times reports.
Mr Hicks who was cooking a special lunch to thank Gaynor for cleaning his pool and looking after his garden said he felt a hand on his shoulder and a sharp slice across his neck just as he was putting a pork roast back in the oven.
Mr Hicks, 48, said he clutched at his throat as blood started gushing out uncontrollably.
He turned to see Ms Perryman, 41, standing behind him covered in his blood.
“She was swirling her hands around in my blood,” the Queensland Times quoted him as telling the court.
Mr Hicks said she then asked him: “Who’s the big man now, Paul?”
Ms Perryman met her partner Mr Gaynor on the internet and she had come to Australia to marry him.
The court is hearing evidence against the couple to determine if they should face trial for attempted murder.
Mr Hick said he staggered to the bathroom and wrapped a towel around his neck before passing out.
His son Anthony told the court he arrived at the house to find his father unconscious and lying in a pool of blood.
He said Ms Perryman walked into the kitchen and rolled in the blood.
She then grabbed him and said: “He’s going to be okay.”
