The married woman who says she had a sexual affair with South Australian Premier Mike Rann says the politician "used me to stroke his own ego".

Mr Rann on Monday denied having sex with a former Parliament House waitress.

Former barmaid Michelle Chantelois says she had sex with Mr Rann in Parliament House and also kissed the premier in his house and other locations.

Ms Chantelois has also told New Idea magazine she had sex with Mr Rann on his office desk in Parliament House.

"When I got there, he grabbed me and pinned me against the door and began kissing me with his tongue," Ms Chantelois told the magazine in a paid interview published on Monday.

"Then he guided me to his desk and sat me on top of his desk and dropped his trousers and had sex with me.

"It was mutual and I was not surprised."

Ms Chantelois said she was flattered by Mr Rann's attention.

"I have to admit there was some chemistry between us," she said.

"I knew it was wrong but I was attracted to him.

"I don't want people to feel sorry for me because I have made my bed and I have to lie in it.

"But Mike Rann used me to stroke his own ego and pride and unlike me he has suffered no consequences.

"He has shown poor judgment and he hasn't shown me any loyalty or friendship.

"I don't think he should be premier, it's time he took responsibility for his actions."

Ms Chantelois told the magazine she also met Mr Rann at his house in Norwood in Adelaide's inner east.

"When I arrived, he guided me to a yellow leather lounge and lay on top of me and started kissing me passionately," she said.

In March 2005 they again had sex in Mr Rann's parliamentary office, Ms Chantelois said.

"We were both naked and it was much more intense and passionate than the first time we'd done it in his office," she said.

The married mother of two said the premier "would fantasise about what I could wear for him and he asked me what my measurements were so he could buy me sexy bras and panties".

Ms Chantelois described the affair as intoxicating.

"I was falling under his spell," she said.

"The relationship was intoxicating. It was like a drug and I was addicted.

"I knew it was wrong but I couldn't stop doing it."

The premier, elected in 2002 and facing a state poll in March next year, told Ms Chantelois she was "part of his rally team and he needed my support", she said.

Ms Chantelois said she was speaking out because "I couldn't go to my grave with these lies".

Meanwhile, the woman's estranged husband says Mr Rann lacks the personal qualities and character to remain in office.

Rick Phillips has also called for a parliamentary inquiry into the alleged affair.

Mr Phillips, of suburban Burnside, on Monday made his first public statement since allegedly assaulting Mr Rann with a rolled up magazine during a function at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide in October.

He told a media conference that the relationship between Mr Rann and his estranged wife, Michelle Chantelois, had put unbearable pressure on their marriage, resulting in its collapse.

"It is my opinion that Mr Rann took advantage of my wife's youthful naivety during a very difficult time in our lives and our marriage," Mr Phillips told reporters, as he read from a prepared statement.

"He has shown that he lacks the personal qualities and character to remain in the office of Premier.

"I now call for a parliamentary inquiry into the matter."
