Queensland's Crime and Misconduct Commission inquiry into the possible fraudulent use of taxpayer funds granted to the Queensland Rugby Union continues on Wednesday in Brisbane.
The CMC is investigating the involvement of Simon Tutt, a senior policy adviser to former sports minister Judy Spence, in a $4.2 million state government grant to the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU).
It is alleged Mr Tutt instructed public servants to prepare and recommend the grant to Ms Spence, and that he did so having arranged for $200,000 of that money to be passed on by the QRU to the University of Queensland Rugby Academy, of which Mr Tutt was a committee member.
The hearing, before commission chairman Robert Needham, is expected to hear testimony from former Department of Sport and Recreation director-general Michael Kinnane and his former deputy Craig Matheson.
