A Northern Territory man has been jailed for two weeks for punching a female radio host who tried to stop him assaulting his girlfriend.
Fredrick Norris, 19, pleaded guilty in Darwin Magistrates Court to assaulting Hot 100's radio host Amanda Pernechele outside a local nightclub, the NT News reports.
Norris and his partner had been arguing outside the club at 3am when the altercation became physical, the court heard.
When Ms Pernechele intervened and tried to pull Norris away from his girlfriend he ran off.
But he returned a short time later with three friends.
Norris then punched Ms Pernechele in the right eye and continued punching her as she fell into the gutter.
Police officers arrested Norris in a nearby street.
The court Norris and his girlfriend are still together and are expecting their first child.
Norris was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended after two weeks. He will be supervised for first 12 months after he is released from jail and put on a three-month drug and alcohol ban.
