It doesn't have anything to do with her politics, but Julia Gillard's earlobes have become a talking point on Twitter during her debate with Tony Abbott tonight.

Gillard wore her hair slightly further back than usual at the debate — revealing her ears to the audience.

More than one hundred comments about her earlobes had been posted to Twitter before the debate had even finished.

"Gillard's earlobes are the biggest thing in this debate," wrote Twitter user Matt Williamson.

Twitter user Charli asked: "Never realised just how enormous Julia Gillard's earlobes are. Will this affect the public's vote?"

The debate, which was held at the National Press Club in Canberra, was the first, and only, debate of the election campaign.
