Natural disaster declarations have been extended to the Brewarrina and Walgett local government areas in northern NSW.

NSW Emergency Services Minister Mike Gallacher said the regions were two of the hardest hit by recent flooding.

He announced the declarations on Tuesday, taking the total number across NSW to 23.

"These are the areas that have been hardest hit by the recent rainfall and subsequent floods," Mr Gallacher said in a statement.

"The Natural Disaster Declarations for these areas activates a number of assistance schemes for home, land and business owners under the NSW Disaster Assistance Arrangements.

"This will at the very least assist residents, primary producers and business owners to get back on their feet a little sooner."
