A Sydney actor has threatened to sue after he was kicked out of an awards show after-party because he asked Russell Crowe for a photo, he claims.

Alex Haddad, who has appeared on SBS series Pizza, paid $300 for a ticket to the after-party for the AACTA Awards at Sydney's Star Casino on Wednesday night.

But the actor said he was ejected from the event on the orders of Crowe, who had hosted the awards ceremony.

Haddad told the Daily Telegraph he saw Crowe in the open air area of the Marquee nightclub at the casino and asked for a photograph.

He claimed Crowe "rudely declined and started to get abusive".

Haddad said he was not drunk and was not harassing Crowe, but soon afterwards security approached him and said Crowe had asked for him to be removed. A spokesman for Crowe denied the Oscar winner had anything to do with Haddad's ejection.
