Jennifer Lawrence has fallen flat on her face on her way to collect the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
The crowd gave the Silver Linings Playbook star a standing ovation after she appeared to trip on her Dior gown while walking up the steps to the stage.
Aussie actor Hugh Jackman quickly jumped to help her up after the face-plant.
"You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell," Lawrence said after regaining her composure on stage.
"That's really embarrassing."
Lawrence snatched the female lead award from Australian Naomi Watts, who was nominated for her role in The Impossible.
It was an evening of disappointment for Australians, with Jackman also losing out on Best Actor in a Leading Role to Lincoln actor Daniel Day-Lewis.
Australian veteran and Silver Linings Playbook actress Jacki Weaver missed out on the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, which went to Anne Hathaway for Les Miserables.
Australian The Hobbit nominees visual effects artist Dave Clayton and make-up artist and hairstylist Rick Findlater also missed out on awards.
The award for Best Film went to Argo, which also took out the film editing and writing adapted screenplay categories.
Ang Lee took out Best Director for Life of Pi, which also won for its cinematography, original score and visual effects.
