New footage of Duchess Kate greeting wellwishers in England's east has disproven the widely-reported claim that the pregnant royal had suggested she was carrying a daughter.
On Wednesday numerous media outlets reported the Duchess of Cambridge had let her child's gender slip during a visit to Grimsby the previous day, the Evening Standard reports.
After being handed a white teddy bear by a local wellwisher, the expectant royal reportedly said, "Thank you, I'll take that for my d....." before cutting herself off.
The alleged revelation made headlines around the world.
But new footage has dispelled the claim, apparently proving that the Duchess remains unaware of the sex of her unborn child.
In the new footage Duchess Kate says "is this for us, awww, thank you so much, it's very sweet of you" when given a soft toy "for the baby".
When asked if she said "my daughter" the Duchess clearly replies "no", adding she does not know her child's gender.
Duchess Kate is due to give birth in July.
