A convicted sex offender who repeatedly snuck into prisons across New York, sexually assaulting an inmate on one visit, appears to have got his wish after being sentenced to ten years jail.
Matthew Matagrano, 37, pleaded guilty to burglary and second-degree burglary as a sexually motivated felony in a Manhattan court yesterday, the New York Daily News reports.
The portly penitentiary-seeker admitted using a gold badge to gain access to the Manhattan Detention Complex in February and strip-searching an inmate and grabbing his testicles while inside.
Matagrano also handed out cigarettes and chatted with guards during his visit, before robbing them of more than $5500 worth of equipment.
He was caught when he allegedly broke into a corrections facility in the Bronx, for which he still faces charges.
The 37-year-old has previously been caught posing as a Board of Education official to enter two schools and access student records and in 1996 he was convicted of sodomy and sexual abuse of a male victim under the age of 17.
Matagrano's lawyer, Carlos Martir, said his client had "emotional issues".
