Reporter calls herself stupid

Anchors at a TV news program in the US were left red-faced after a fellow reporter's embarrassing outtake went to air.

When Connecticut-based program WTNH News 8 crossed to reporter-in-the-field Erica Grow, they were expecting a pithy account on problems at a local school.

Instead viewers saw a tape of a Grow becoming tongue-tied and calling herself "stupid" as she rehearsed her lines.

The anchors blamed the mishap on "the wrong tape loaded in there".
