A Scottish ballet teacher who appeared in television soaps has been charged after she allegedly abducted a male student before engaging in a three-month affair with him.

Sarah Pirie, 27, appeared before Blackpool Magistrates Court charged with five counts of intentionally sexually touching the 15-year-old boy, The Sun newspaper reports.

Pirie, who had minor roles on television shows Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks, allegedly took the boy to hotels in Manchester and committed the offences between March and June 2009.

She is also facing one count of abduction stemming from an incident in Blackpool on May 22.

The dancer, who is now living in Mamer, Luxembourg, only spoke to give her name and address during the short hearing in court.

Her lawyer indicated to the court that his client would be pleading not guilty to all the charges, while prosecutor Pam Smith asked if the case could be moved to a crown court.

Pirie's case will be committed to a higher court and she was granted bail until her next court appearance on April 30.

Pirie, the daughter of a wealthy banker in Luxembourg, was trained at the prestigious Hammond School and has starred in and choreographed musicals and theatrical performances across the UK.
