A 450kg pig has helped track down a cat that was presumed to have died after a fire swept through a farm in the US state of New Hampshire.
Three days after the fire swept through the Perry Hill farm, destroying buildings and livestock, landowner Harriet Finks said the family’s pet pig Colby helped find the injured cat.
Ms Finks said after finishing her breakfast nine-year-old Colby set off into the woods, prompting caretakers to follow her.
"She was on a mission. For her, it was quite a distance," Ms Finks said.
Once Colby made it into the woods she was found beside Gumbo, one of the cats the family had presumed lost in the fire.
Gumbo had been in the woods for three days, and could not walk due to severe burns on his feet.
His back and one side of his body was also burnt, his ears were singed, and he had no whiskers.
But after spending a month in a veterinarian's care Gumbo is safe and sound and now back on the farm with Colby.
