The launch of Pippa Middleton's new book in London took an uncomfortable turn when a little girl at her table told her that she hated princesses.
Middleton, who was throwing a mock party with children to promote the new book, laughed off the six-year-old’s comment and joked that she "better not talk about that one".
Two girls at the table with Middleton, sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, said they in fact preferred vampires, and only opted to dress up like princesses on Halloween.
Middleton’s book, titled Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities for Families and Friends, is a guide to throwing a successful party.
The socialite has declined to do media interviews in the lead up to the book launch in an effort to downplay suggestions she is trying to profit off her royal connections.
Speaking to reporters outside the event, Middleton said she felt "really, really nervous" launching the book.
"I feel incredibly lucky to be in this position to publish a book," she said.
“It’s been a crazy few years since my sister's wedding. It's had its upsides and its downsides and I feel really fortunate to build a career as a writer.”
