A Las Vegas TV reporter has had a gold chain snatched from around his neck by an alleged thief who did not seem bothered by the cameras filming him.
Univision reporter Diego Santiago was working on a story about Latino day-labourers on Tuesday when he was confronted by an irate man who appeared to take offence to the Spanish-language broadcaster filming in the area, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
The man could be heard objecting to the presence of the cameras as he squared up to Santiago in a threatening manner.
After arguing for a few minutes the man suddenly lunges at the reporter's neck, breaking off his gold chain and making a run for it.
But his bid for freedom was short-lived — only seconds after snatching the jewellery the alleged thief was tackled by Santiago and detained until police arrived.
The journalist said the chain had sentimental value and he was clearly not prepared to let it go without a fight.
John Pridgen, 27, was later arrested and charged with one count of robbery.
His bail was set at $19,500 and he is due to appear in court today.
