A giant condor has stolen the show at a US ice hockey game by making a run from its handler across the slippery ice and into the stands.
The Andean condor was supposed to perch proudly in the centre of the rink during the US national anthem at the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors' game against the Las Vegas Wranglers in California on Friday.
But a video shows Bakersfield's team mascot becoming nervous during the anthem, hopping down from its handler's arm and attempting to escape.
The condor, which has a wingspan of 3m, then managed to waddle away from the handler repeatedly, even jumping out of the rink and onto the players' bench, as arena staff scramble to control it.
The condor's team went on to lose the game 4-1.
