The White House has issued a humorous response to conspiracy theorists who claim robots or alien reptiles form part of the president's security team – saying such a measure would be too costly.
Video of an alleged transformation by a "shapeshifter" security agent was filmed as US President Barack Obama addressed the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in Washington in March last year, Wired reports.
The footage is now being viewed in a new light after a conspiracy theorist's video was posted online suggesting a member of either the Israeli or US secret service "could be a shapeshifter alien humanoid working for the powers that be".
Footage shot by the Brussels-based Jewish News One shows a man who appears to be a member of the president's security team looking back and forth repeatedly and allegedly transforming as the president delivers his speech.
The narrator of the conspiracy video says that even though the man appears to look normal in the darkened theatre, "a series of odd features on his head" and face plus his "very strange behaviour" and "creepy movements" suggest the man is not what he seems.
Acting in good humour, the White House's National Security Agency chose not to deny the claims, but said that in an age of austerity, extra-terrestrial bodyguards would be too costly.
"I can’t confirm the claims made in this video, but any alleged program to guard the president with aliens or robots would likely have to be scaled back or eliminated in the sequester," National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden told Wired.
"I'd refer you to the Secret Service or Area 51 for more details."
A number of conspiracy theorist websites allege that shapeshifting reptilian humanoids are the true rulers of the world through their manipulation and infiltration of the US government.
