Whatever made this cargo plane stall mid-air shortly after takeoff, the eerie few seconds it seems to float in the clouds before plummeting to the ground and crashing in a horrific fireball makes for disturbing viewing.
The dashcam footage, posted on viral video sites such as LiveLeak and Jalopnik, claims to show yesterday's deadly crash of a civilian-operated Boeing 747-400 cargo plane in Afghanistan, which killed all seven US crew members on board.
"The entire crash was captured on the dash came of an approaching vehicle," Jalopnik's article said.
According to CNN, the plane was en route to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, but crashed after take-off from Bagram Air Base yesterday afternoon.
National Airlines, the US-based company that operated the plane, said in a statement: "This was a purely cargo flight and no passengers were aboard. Cargo consisted of vehicles and routine general cargo."
The cause of the crash has not been determined.
The Taliban took credit for shooting down the plane, but these claims have not been verified.
