A Polish man who stole a bunch of roses to win back his ex-girlfriend says he had no idea a TV news crew was reporting from outside the florist and had caught the whole act on camera.
A reporter for Polish 24-hour news channel TVN24 was presenting a broadcast outside a building in Lomza, in north-east Poland, when Andrzej Czapka appeared in the background.
Czapka, 30, can be seen putting his hand through the window of a florist at the base of the building before fleeing in full view of the camera.
While the TVN24 reporter is unaware of what is unfolding behind him, numerous viewers reportedly contacted police to say they had recognised the thief.
Czapka told police he had stolen the roses to win back his ex, the Austrian Times reports.
"I'd broken up with my girlfriend and I wanted to win her back with some flowers but I had no money," he said.
"I didn't even see the film crew."
