A would-be armed bandit picked the wrong store to rob in the US state of Missouri after the war-veteran store clerk pulled a gun on him.
The armed man walked into the Marionville store on Sunday evening with the intent to rob it, but instead came face-to-face with the barrel of clerk Jon Alexander's 9mm semi-automatic handgun, the Springfield News Leader reports.
CCTV video shows the would-be robber trying to pull out his weapon but Mr Alexander's reflexes, honed during a 30 year stint in the US military, catch him off-guard and suddenly the clerk's gun is placed right in front of his mouth, threatening to "blow his f------ head off".
Mr Alexander pushes the suspect's own gun to the side and, realising the clerk has got the jump on him, backs out of the store and flees.
"One of the policeman told me later, 'You're a lucky man," Mr Alexander told the News Leader. "I said 'I think he (the robber) is a littler luckier than I am'."
Mr Alexander said police have identified the suspect and are now trying to track him down.
