October 04, 2013: 4. Extreme kayaker Ben Marr has filmed himself riding the lower part of a river where concrete barriers were installed following a landslide.

A Canadian kayaking daredevil is making waves online after he shared a video of himself manoeuvring down a drained aqueduct at breakneck speed.

Vancouver-based Ben Marr rode the Lions Bay Slide into Howe Sound in British Columbia at speeds of up to 56km/h, capturing the whole experience on camera.

The footage, filmed from three different angles, shows Mr Marr push off an embankment in his whitewater craft.

VIDEO: Extreme sports and extreme fails

Armed with only a paddle, the extreme sportsman quickly builds speed and his kayak can be heard dragging on the concrete as he snakes down the slide.

A camera fixed to his helmet ensures viewers have a front seat view of the action as he hits the water.

VIDEO: Extreme winter sports and sights

The video went viral after being posted on Facebook on September 30, tallying more than 1110 likes and 1950 shares by Friday.
