A zookeeper has gone blow-for-blow with a boxing kangaroo in a dramatic stand-off at a US zoo.
The violent display at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, South Carolina, was caught on film and posted online earlier this month, showing the zookeeper trying fruitlessly to fend off the aggressive Australian marsupial.
The man throws left and right jabs and tries to push away the huge hostile kangaroo, which bounces violently as it tries to claw at the zookeeper.
"This is not funny," says a woman who filmed the incident as young children witnessing the commotion laughed at the scene.
"I don't think he likes him," one child giggles.
A woman who claims to be the sister of the attacked zookeeper commented on the video posted online saying she did not appreciate people laughing at the incident.
"(My brother) is talented and passionate about what he does but it is a dangerous job that should be respected," she said.
"I work there also (and) I feel so sorry for him," another person commented.
The mad marsupial appears to be a red kangaroo, which is part of an Australian exhibition at the zoo that includes koalas, lorikeets and red-neck wallabies, according to its website.
