Somali gunmen have shot and killed a UN World Food Program (WFP) aid worker in the violence-plagued country's southern Gedo region, the agency says.
Three masked gunmen ordered Ibrahim Hussein Duale to stand up and then shot him dead on Tuesday, the WFP said in a statement citing witnesses.
He was the Rome-based UN agency's third worker to be killed since August 2008.
"We call on all parties to allow us to do our job; providing food to feed the hungry at this critical time," WFP's executive director Josette Sheeran said.
Aid workers have been frequently targeted by gunmen in the lawless country, where 3.25 million of its 10 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance.
