The woman at the centre of the group sex scandal that ruined Matthew Johns's TV career has had her version of events challenged by a former workmate.

Tania Boyd worked with the then-19-year-old at the Racecourse Hotel in Christchurch and last night told Nine News she did not appear at all distressed after the incident.

See what ninemsn readers had to say below about whether the other Cronulla players involved should be named and shamed.

"She was absolutely excited about the fact: she was bragging about it to the staff and quite willing, openly saying how she had sex with several players," Ms Boyd said.

"We were quite disgusted about it ... there was no trauma whatsoever.

"I'm disgusted that a woman can all of a sudden change her story from having a great time to then turning it into a terrible crime.

Ms Boyd said the woman "did not know names" and that identity only became an issue after a few days.

"We all just thought it was hilarious until five days later the police came to work and were horrified she had now changed her story to say she was now a victim of crime," she said.

"She is saying she is still traumatised etcetera, well she wasn't for five days, or four days at least, after that affair.

"I can't work out what's happened: does it take five days for it to sink in?"

Johns also enjoys support from the citizens of Christchurch, with talkback opinion firmly behind the former footballer.

"I feel for the poor guy … it's ruining his life," one woman told Nine News during a series of street interviews.

The claim is the latest in a dizzying series of revelations related to the incident, which occurred during a Cronulla Sharks pre-season tour of New Zealand in 2002.

More than 100,000 people have responded so far to ninemsn's daily poll on whether names should be named, with the current vote running at four-to-one for further disclosure.

Former sex discrimination commissioner Pru Goward also appealed for more information while speaking on TODAY, suggesting rape convictions could result despite a New Zealand police decision not to lay charges at the time. (Read more: 'No new investigation')

Yesterday morning's appeals followed Johns's emotional appearance on A Current Affair on Wednesday night.

In the exclusive interview, Johns apologised, but told host Tracy Grimshaw the woman was a "willing participant" who never objected to the advances of other players. (Read more: Johns disputes sex details)

What a joke no way should the other players be named!!! this sort of thing happens every night of the week all over the world, normal ppl call them "swingers parties" leave the guys alone and if the young lady was put on a lie detecter i have no doubt the truth of enjoyment and willing participation would surface!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course he is going to say she was a willing participant, because if she wasn't then that is rape and he is up for criminal charges. Derrr... The NRL need to stop pussyfooting around and have harsh punishment for this sort of behaviour. The problem is most NRL players are too stupid to keep themselves out of trouble. Most of them can't string two words together. Matty Johns is only sorry because he has been caught out and I bet it wasn't his first or last infidelity. Anyone who believes he is sincerely sorry is as stupid as he is. They are disgusting pigs and the other players involved should man up and come forward, they are all cowards.
In my eyes Matty Johns will always be the hero he was before the incident occured. It was the wrong thing to do when it came to cheating on his wife. The 19 year old woman sounds like she was a willing participant of this situation, so she should wake up and take responsibility for her own actions. The other men are in the wrong and are gutless for not coming forward. Matty has apologised for this 7 years ago and now why has this woman all of a sudden just brought it up again. Get over it, it happened 7 years ago! I feel very sorry for his family.Girls and Footballers shouldn't put theirselves in these situations, but when things like this happen its not solely the boys fault, girls need to take responsibility for their actions aswell. I think they should leave Matty Johns alone and give him his job back.
Morally wrong. Not criminally wrong. The girl was 19 at the time and by the standard of the social life which we live in you are a Adult. At 18 you are free to vote, drink and have sex, to move out of home, you are able to make your choice good or bad. I think that the NRL should have support Johns. These are thing that happened 7 years ago and were dealt with at the time. Morally it something that Johns has to live with. The issues are thing that him and his wife should deal with in private. Shame on Channel 9 for their actions. Shame on the Storm.
This whole thing is neither right or wrong, I'd like journalism at it's best to have a look at other professons, not just footballers, such as Politicians, Very high profile Businessmen, other sporting groups etc. If two people agree on something it is no business of anybody else.
The only thing Matt did wrong is commit adultery. It was not an offence that he should have been dragged over the coals for and he should,t have lost his jobs. The other players should only be named if they themselves stand up because they didn't commit a crime either. In regards to a crime against women as has been stated she bragged about it and she should now pay compo for everything these players have lost.
Should the other players be named and shamed? yes!! Why? Because this is footy culture this is what these men do for fun!!! One guy gets a girl to go back to a room for sex then tells the rest of the boys to follow not far behind. Think about it people!!!! If ur a girl and 10-15 110kg footy boys pile into a room when ur naked what are you to do? Truly i think most people would be bloody scared to say no. For that reason alone they should named and feel disgusted in themselves because at the end of the day thats rape by intimidation and its just not right! I doubt these boys would like it to happen to their mother or daughters!
Why is this woman now coming forward after 7 years to try and destroy another player. Is this woman broke and need money? She was 19 and went willingly to the room she knew what she wanted and got it. It's sad to see that player get caught up in this by malice women how are out to make a buck of these guys. Also it is said to see news programs making these guys out to be a public example. What about the general public that also do these things, where is the news stories on this??? News programs get a life this is becoming beyond a joke you make these situations out to be what you want. Matty we are all behind you and i hope you and your wife can make it through again. Think of you both
Not only should he be re-instated to everything he was involved with but the other males should support him now like they did on 'that night' if not by choice then they should be made too.. I feel for his entire family including his parents. Next question is 'why haven't the sharks spoke up for him as they were responsible for the team while they are away regardless of change of leadership over the years???
The CONE OF SILENCE is deafening in the Shire. Its not hard to find out the team of 2002. They should stand up like men finally and take the punishment (heat) like men that they are not. Matty should not wear all the blame. It was not a one on one.
