A seven-year-old schoolboy has been caught giving free bags of heroin to his classmates in Pittsburgh in the US.

Police are investigating after a teacher caught the student with 18 bags of heroin in his backpack and locker at Quentin Roosevelt Elementary School in Carrick this week.

Pittsburgh police brought a drug-sniffing dog into the school but did not find any further drugs, CBS reports.

Police sources said the student told them he got the heroin from his father’s bedroom and gave it away to three friends.

But police did not find any drugs at the boy’s home after a search.

A spokeswoman for Pittsburgh Public Schools, Ebony Pugh, said three parents contacted the school because their children had brought drugs home.
