A New Zealand primary school teacher with a foot fetish has been banned from teaching after he was found to have groomed young boys and paid them for sexual favours and to suck their toes.

In its ruling, the New Zealand Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal said the teacher had befriended a 10-year-old boy and began to buy him gifts.

He then began to buy dirty clothes, footwear and boxer shorts from the victim to fuel his fetish for used schoolboy clothing.

Around the time the victim turned 12 years old the relationship changed and began to develop into sexual contact.

One day after the student removed his sweaty shoes, the teacher began to lick the boy's feet and suck his toes, the tribunal said.

This fixation with sucking the victim's feet and toes continued for some years, and often involved the teacher paying the victim in cash, food, alcohol, clothing or cell phone top-ups.

Soon after the victim turned 16 years the teacher began to pay the victim to perform oral sex.

A second student, aged 13 and a friend of the first student, was groomed in the same way and was eventually paid to perform sexual acts.

The teacher pleaded guilty in a district court last year and was convicted on four charges, including indecent assault on a young person. He was sentenced to 12 months' home detention and 250 hours' community service.

The tribunal has ordered the primary school teacher be formally censured for his conduct and has cancelled his registration.
