Old family videos show Nicole Miller laughing and playing with her two boys before her life was tragically cut short.

The 34-year-old US mother-of-two was killed in 2004 when the Ford Explorer she was driving blew a tyre and rolled over.

Now her two young sons have written and performed a song in tribute to their mum, in the hope that they can change people's mind about the cars they drive.

Ryan and Gregory Miller have rewritten the words to Vanessa Carlton's 'A Thousand Miles' in an attempt to force first generation Ford Explorers off the road because they are dangerous.

The Florida boys played piano, sang and produced the video with the help of their father.

"Making our way through life, growing fast, faces pass and I'm home bound," they sing.

"Thinking about you mom, while making our way, every day without you."

During the video, the boys hold up handwritten placards saying: "If you own this car, please stop driving it" and "Our goal is to save someone's life".

The video, which was posted on January 9, grabbed national headlines and even landed Ryan and Gregory guest spots on The Rosie Show, hosted by Rosie O'Donnell and Anderson Cooper's talk show.

Ford released a statement this week, saying the company was "familiar with the tragic accident" but could not comment further as the family was taking legal action against Ford in a case that is coming up for trial later in the year.
