Relatives of people still missing one month after the Costa Concordia capsized off the Tuscan coast have tossed bouquets of red roses in the sea near the luxury liner.

The family members boarded a small boat that took them some 50 metres from the stranded cruise ship.

Authorities say 15 people remain missing and are presumed dead after the ship hit a reef on January 13 when the captain made an unauthorised manoeuvre. Seventeen people are confirmed dead.

The search for the missing was called off after authorities determined it was too risky for divers.

Kevin Rebello, the brother of a missing waiter, joined the private tribute on Monday.

He says he is still hoping for a miracle that will have allowed 32-year-old Russel Rebello of India to survive.
