A 52-year-old New York man has admitted to racking up more than $110,000 in unpaid road tolls and fines while using his mother's car.
Peter Davis's mother Jean Davis, 75, has been shamed on the New York Port Authority's website as owing the most money for unpaid fines, the New York Post reports.
Mr Davis said he racked up the fines driving his mother's Ford Focus on numerous trips to Manhattan to buy drugs.
The recovering drug addict now lives with his mother in Englewood, New Jersey.
Mr Davis told the Post he made the journey several times a week for three or four years, accruing $19,811 in unpaid tolls and $94,711 in fines — and only stopped in 2009 after his licence was revoked.
"When you're addicted like that you don't think of the consequences," he was quoted saying.
Mr Davis and his mother said the fines are now so large they have no hope of paying them.
The Port Authority's 'Hall of Shame' lists 37 companies and individuals who owe massive tolls and fines.
Ms Davis is the top private motorist on the list, with most others being trucking and taxi companies.
