Two journalists wounded in the attack that killed Sunday Times war correspondent Marie Colvin in the Syrian city of Homs have made online videos appealing for their urgent evacuation.
Le Figaro reporter Edith Bouvier from France and Sunday Times photographer Paul Conroy from Britainsuffered injuries to their legs when they were hit in the rocket attack on Wednesday, the Telegraph reports.
The pair made their pleas for help in separate videos filmed yesterday, which Syrian opposition forces quickly uploaded to YouTube and sent to news organisations around the world.
In the video Bouvier appeared calm despite saying she urgently needed to get across the Lebanese border to receive medical treatment on her badly broken leg.
"My leg is broken at the level of the femur, along its length and also horizontally. I need to be operated upon as soon as possible," she said.
"The doctors here have treated me very well, as much as they are able, but they are not able to undertaken surgical procedures."
A man in medical garb appears alongside Bouvier, who describes her condition and echoes her request for safe passage from Homs.
Conroy, who suffered "three large wounds" to his leg calls on western governments to give "assistance" to the Free Syrian Army in his video.
Lying on a couch and covered in a blanket in a dim room, he emphasises that he is a guest of the rebels, not a captive, and is receiving medical attention.
A doctor discusses his injuries as a shell is heard detonating nearby.
"He needs help to be evacuated from here as the missiles — as you just heard — are hitting the houses all the time," the doctor said. "He is in a safe place now but we are not sure if they can hit us, so we need your help to evacuate Paul."
The two video appeals came as Syria's information minister claimed the governor of Homs has been directed to evacuate Western journalists killed or wounded in the besieged Baba Amr district, following Colvin's death.
Baba Amr is a rebel-held stronghold that has been subjected to 20 consecutive days of heavy shell fire by Syrian government forces.
