A teenage lottery winner in Britain has admitted to blowing her 1.9 million pound ($3.67 million) prize in less than seven years — $482,000 of it on cocaine.

Callie Rogers hit the jackpot in 2003 at the age of 16, but the now 22-year-old said she spent all but around $38,000 on drugs, holidays, designer clothes and fast cars.

In an interview with the News of the World newspaper, Ms Rogers said she wished she had "never won the lottery money".

"I was spending a fortune on cocaine, a nasty evil drug that tears your life apart," she said.

"I'll be honest, about a quarter of a million pounds of my win has been wasted on it."

Back living with her mother in Cumbria in north-western England, Ms Rogers said she shouldn't have been given the money until she was old enough to use it wisely.

Admitting to mental health issues before her win, she said the lottery win made her condition "much, much worse", and led to several suicide attempts.

"Suddenly I went from having nothing to having more money than I could ever imagine, and I was only 16," Ms Rogers said.

"In hindsight I wish someone had taken the money off me when I won it and given it back to me when I was mature enough to handle it."

The mother of two now says she has kicked the drug habit and is in the process of rebuilding her life.
