US TV therapist Dr Phil is being sued by a woman who claims he tried to "brainwash" her by grabbing her left breast and forcing her to stare at a naked man.

Shirley Dieu has filed a suit in a Los Angeles court alleging that she was subjected to physical and emotional abuse when she went to see Dr Phil for therapy in 2007.

According to the suit, which was obtained by TMZ.com, Ms Dieu claims Dr Phil forced her to "be in the same room with a completely naked live man while he exposed his entire naked body, genitals and all."

She also alleges he "touched her left breast during her therapy session", and refused to let her leave the building. Ms Dieu has not yet specified what damages she will be seeking from the popular TV host.

The allegations arise as Dr Phil celebrates becoming a grandfather.

The 59-year-old told People magazine that he was "stunned and thrilled" when his son Jay McGraw told him the news.
