Tiger Woods' wife Elin will separate from the golfing superstar after Christmas, a UK tabloid has claimed.
Quoting an unnamed close friend of Elin, the News of the World newspaper said the 29-year-old former Swedish model plans to return to Sweden and was in talks with divorce lawyers.
But she would spend Christmas with her golfing husband for the sake of their two children, it was reported.
"In the short-term they'll act like any other loving couple," the newspaper quoted the friend as saying.
"Elin won't break it all up right away. But she does need some time alone to herself and a legal separation will happen very quickly."
The couple have two children, one aged two and the other 10 months old.
Woods' public image has taken a battering over the past two weeks, with claims he has had 12 mistresses during his five-year marriage to Elin and has spent $65,000 on prostitutes.
Just yesterday Woods' main sponsor Gillette said it would be "limiting" the role of one of the world’s richest sportsman.

In a statement last Friday Woods admitted he had been unfaithful and said he was taking an indefinite break from golf to focus on his family.
Meanwhile one of Tiger Woods' mistresses, Jamie Jungers, had told how she had sex with him on the night his father died.
Jungers said she had waited for Woods at his home while he went to visit his father in a hospice in May, 2006.
"When he came back [a few hours later], I could see he was preoccupied and worried about his dad but when we went to bed he still wanted to have sex as usual," Jungers told News of the World.
Woods then got a call saying his cancer stricken father Earl, 74, had died.
"We went to sleep. I was beside him wearing nothing but a pair of panties. Then at about 3am the phone rang. It was Tiger's mum," Jungers said.
"She called to tell him that his dad had passed away. Tiger looked utterly devastated and didn't say a word. He didn't even cry but I could tell he was heartbroken."
Jungers said her six-month affair with Woods ended after he refused to lend her money.
"He's a cheap f***er and he just didn't want to help me," she said.
